I’m Catalina Escallon Rosselli, a Colombian artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Through my art, I explore the intersection between graphic and textile design. My work bridges the digital and the analog, inviting viewers to engage through texture, color, and detail.
I create clean, dimensional compositions using thread, beads, sequins, and paper. I’m fascinated by the interplay of color, light, and texture, and how these elements can bring still materials to life. My embroideries often appear to lift off the page— subtle volume and full of movement.
I choose to work on paper because I’m drawn to its structure and limitations, and I love the contrast it creates with soft threads or shiny embellishments. Each piece is built slowly and intentionally. From afar, my designs look crisp and graphic—but up close, they reveal hundreds of tiny, hand-placed stitches and elements, carefully arranged by color, size, and reflectivity.
My process is rooted in patience and precision. I want people to be pulled in by the overall design, and then discover the layers of effort and detail that lie within. It’s in that tension between simplicity and intricacy that I find the most meaning—bringing movement, depth, and emotion into each piece, one stitch at a time.
